SEF URLS

Search Engine Friendly URLs allow certain search engines to index more of your site, because they aren't confused with all the "weird" signs in a dynamic URL. These signs include & , ? marks , % signs and = signs. MyBB 1.4 supports SEF URLs which can be enabled from with the Admin Control Panel, and makes your URLs static (easier to index).

[edit] To enable SEF URLs

  1. Make sure your server supports Mod Rewrite
  2. Rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess
  3. Login to your Admin Control Panel
  4. Select the Configuration tab
  5. Click Server and Optimization Options
  6. Make Sure Enable search engine friendly URLs? is set to either Automatic Detection or enabled

This will make your URLs automatically change to the transformed SEF URLs.
